This is a really fun item. Weâve experimented with all kids of objects including water droplets.

Fun prop
I bought one of the initial models of this illusion saucer back in 1978. Back then, it was about 30$, and a bit biggerâ¦. 12â or so. From Sharper Image!! (Cutting edge, right?) This is a cute toy version of the same thing. The angle to view the illusionary object is pretty small, but itâs nice to have a little science miracle to share with the kiddos, based on reflection and refraction. Grab one before it slips through your fingers like Casper through a castle wallâ¦

Cool! But only works on tiny things
This is really cool! But it only works on things that are about the size of a raisin or so. And you have to stand at the exact right angle. So it’s cool, but after the first time playing with it, it gets shoved somewhere and never used again.

It’s a cheap office toy
What more could you want? It’s a cheap office toy that fools people. I’m just amazed that these things have been around for decades and they still can’t figure out a way to make it more durable and not so easily scratched. If you switch items out in it more than a few times it’ll eventually scratch and become useless. At least it’s not expensive.
