Small but so much fun
I didnât really pay attention to the measurements and thought itâd be a little bigger but itâs so much fun and my whole family likes to mess around on it. The sound can definitely get annoying but it makes up for that in laughs.

Fun little instrument
My 7 year old saved money for one of these. He was so excited to play it when it arrived. It needed AAA batteries but luckily we keep some in stock here at home. The toy is perfect size for his little fingers. Overall a fun instrument that can at times be annoying to others listening but it was nice to see my son enjoy such a funny little toy.The price to me seemed like a lot but I had just seen one at world market for the same price and didnât really find it anywhere cheaper.

Just a cute lil guy
I had wanted a lil gudetama version of this instrument for about 7 years or so and I finally got my hands on it! I love the sound and how you can adjust the pitch from high medium or low! I wish that it was more musician friendly and had scales and explained the tone better. The speaker is the wonkiest part about the instrument its very low quality in terms of sound and the fret board needs to be pressed down relatively hard, but its more of something to get used to than anything. I think the instrument has a lot of potential and requires a lot of practice to perfect to get a clear pitch and sound. However this lil guy is brilliant! It takes some patience and maybe it needs some updated features like a more sensitive fret board and better speakers, but otherwise I love my lil friend. Its fun super fun to annoy my cats and more fun to practice silly songs on

OMGoodness, Otis loves it!
I had no idea an Otamatone could bring so much joy to a child. I purchased two, one “kirby” and the other Sanrio Gudetama. Both my 9yo grand daughter and 10 yo grand son were so excited. The sound is not so loud as to drive the parents crazy, and fun enough to keep them busy playing along with their favorite songs or making up their own silly songs. They both love it. a good purchase.arrived early. packaged well.

Good quality and adorable
This thing is so cute! My son is obsessed with Gudetama and suddenly became interested in this instrument. What luck that we found one to combine both interests. Itâs easy to figure out how to use and (thank God) the volume is adjustable. Itâs a lot of fun and looks cute on a shelf.

Purchased for my 9-year-old. Everything works as it should, decent size, but it is expensive for what it is.

For such an outrageously unique instrument, I can’t help but pick it up to play with! The packaging is fun and easy to open. The cardboard backing is actually the instruction manual and a paper insert is included with a simple song on it.This specific Otamatone is modeled after a cartoon character called “Gudetama”, a popular character in Japan. Unfortunately, the way that this instrument is designed is that the “mouth” on the instrument is opened and closed to produce a specific sound. This “mouth” doesn’t match where the mouth of Gudetama would be, so the character’s mouth actually looks like a nose. That said, this Otamatone is the medium size version and while it’s smaller, it does lack some features like a headphone jack. You will need 3 x AAA batteries, which are not included. It seems that rechargeable AAA batteries will not work as I haven’t had any luck after trying several brands; keep some spare alkaline batteries handy! The back of the unit has the on/off switch, which is also the volume control (low and high). Under that is the tone switch, which goes from low to medium to high. I find that the medium tone is the most enjoyable as the low and high are simply too low and too high. The “fret” of this instrument is touch-sensitive and you can both press and slide your finger to produce notes. It will only register one press, so trying to play it like a piano isn’t going to work as you’d expect. There is no learning curve involved with how to use this instrument and anyone can pick it up and play it. But it will take some time to master, especially since the notes aren’t as clearly defined as they might be on a string or wind instrument.Overall, I’ve been enjoying playing this unique instrument and I think anyone who enjoys something different will get a kick out of it.One a final note, while this instrument might be one of Japan’s most popular, the product itself is made in China.
