Light up swords
My 6 year old grandson loves these and so far they have held up well.

I almost wish I did not get the set, but now I need more
Don’t let the header mislead! These are VERY KIDDO APPROVED. They won’t put them down. I am in a constant state of either fighting off bandits or pirates in the kitchen. It happens at all hours, thank goodness they light up! I would never know a pair of pirates was sneaking up on me at night without the lights! They are durable enough for endless defensive play, yet soft enough to prevent questionable wounds. 11/10 will be getting a set for me and the other parental unit to defend ourselves.

Really fun, but didn’t last long
I really liked these light up swords with sounds that were motion activated. My two elementary school aged boys really had a great time with them. The problem is that they just didn’t hold up to the fighting they did with them and broke after only a few days play. The plastic blade part of the sword broke off at the hilt on one and shattered down the middle on the other. Both were not repairable. I will acknowledge that my boys seem to play particularly hard, but then again, isn’t that who these toys would be marketed to? Anyway, they were very fun while they lasted.

Lights are fun, Sounds Can be Obnoxious
These swords were fine for carrying in the dark on Halloween. The thin plastic gave way early on one of the swords as they are not made to really hit each other. The lights were nice and flashy, the sounds were a bit too loud and really detracted from swashbuckling.

Blade cracked
Blade cracked with small children playing sword fight. Disappointing but not the end of the world. Thx

Sturdy pair of plastic swords with flashing lights
This is a pair of matching plastic swords. The swords arrived packaged in individual plastic bags, tucked inside a white box with a label that reveals the contents. The swords are sturdy and well-made; I would expect them to stand up to some rough play. They come WITH BATTERIES INSTALLED which was a nice touch. There were not any instructions included, but I was able to figure out that there was a small white plastic tab near the base of each sword hilt, that could be pulled out to complete the circuit and turn on the swords’ light and sound effects. Once the plastic tab has been removed, the light and sound effects can be enabled and disabled via a gray plastic button on the sword hilt. When turned on, the transparent plastic stars and guard light up in alternating colors, and the translucent plastic of the sword blade also houses flashing lights. See attached video. If you are holding one of the swords in your hand and moving it around, the sound effects will also trigger, on a short loop of 5-6 seconds. My only caution is regarding the sound effects: your young swashbuckler may love them, but nearby adults will probably get tired of them quickly. I could not find controls to easily disable the sound effects while leaving the flashing lights operational.A word of warning about the battery compartment: there is a tiny metal screw that you are supposed to remove in order to access the battery compartment. I didn’t notice this at first and broke off a small piece of plastic inside the battery compartment of one sword when I forced the compartment open. That was definitely user error and not the fault of the manufacturer.

Lasted less than an hour with reasonable play
My 9 year old son bought these with his allowance money. They broke with less than an hour of use. He wasnât being rough on them. He hit the couch pillows a few times and mostly just ran around swinging them at air. Hitting a couch pillow is how the plastic blade part cracked. They were $20 and should have stood up to kids playing with them.

By Their Blades Shall Ye Know Them…
Light, bright and flashy!A great set of classic pirate-styled cutlasses – you get two so good for dueling, or for duel-wielding!Highly decorative with silver pommels and flashy colored stars, so more of Penzance than the Caribbean but still awfully fun. Swords are a good medium size, so for children or adults. Not too pointy and not too heavy-thick plastic, so low chance of injury even in frantic play (but still, caution, right?).Blades and stars light and flash in multi-colors, and the swooshing and clashing sounds add a great energy and atmosphere.Other reviews have questioned durability. Honestly, these will probably not survive a season of heavy use – the plastic throughout is lightweight and light grain. They’re not meant to be wacked on walls or over heads. They are more fitting as costume pieces and intended for light play. If handled with some care, they should last a while. In the Library, there were prize giveaways for a pirate-themed event and the students (college students) who received them were very happy, so sure to please all ages.
