My son is 4 years old and has special needs, and this is the perfect toy for him. I would recommend this product for anyone with special needs who is between ages 2 and 7; normally developing children from maybe 1.5 yrs to 6. The caterpillar has various colors and has received compliments from family members on how adorable the patchwork style is. It is super soft – even with the two crinkly ends. It has measurements on the underbelly. The last few sections of the caterpillar are crinkly and has a ball inside the tall, but even all of that is very soft. My only warning to parents is that the antennas are made of the same material as teethers for oral development, so make sure to watch out for your child’s eyes. My son loves the antennas. You have to squeeze or hit the head of the caterpillar to make it play the tune. It is a VERY high pitched song, but comes across well. At first, he was a little scared of it, but he loves it now. I think this toy is wonderful for sensory exploration. It needs supervision, and they probably cannot make the song play by themselves because it truly takes an adult to squeeze the caterpillar’s head, but we love this toy. It’s the current favorite!

My son’s favorite toy!
This caterpillar quickly and easily became my son’s favorite toy. There are so many different and fun variations of sounds, feels, colors, designs, etc. that he loves and also are great for his development. So far the crinkle parts of the toy is his favorite. He is still very young, but I know this toy will last him a long time and don’t believe he will get tired of it anytime soon. The noise level is also much more tolerable than some of his other toys, which is great as I work from home and sometimes need something quieter for him to play while I am in important meetings or calls.
