Super fun (with a couple caveats)
I had Playmobils as a kid and I was totally obsessed with pirates, so I would have absolutely died for this set – and now that I’m an adult I can relive my childhood, lol.Positives: The boat is very sturdy and fairly easy to assemble. The octopus figurehead is way cool. The ship has two different compartments with doors that open (one compartment also has a removable hatch) and one of the doors actually slides into the deck so it’s not in the way. There’s some potential for customization in how you arrange the torches/net holder/skull-on-a-stick. You get three little pirates, two rats, a manta ray, and a monkey. The pirates are very detailed. There’s also a chest of dubloons, a basket, a compass with a holographic face so the needle moves as you tilt it, two small barrels with removable lids, a map and instructions to make a bomb (both of which the pirates and monkey can hold), a rope, a spyglass (took me a second to figure out that was what it was, since it kinda looks like a nightstick or a cane), a shovel, and various weapons. The ship has a grapping hook gun and two little cannons which all work very well and propel their projectiles with impressive force. There is a ton of play value packed into this set; even putting it together was very engaging, then posing the characters and putting everything small into the hold. The larger hold will accommodate the manta ray and the smaller hold will hold the cannon balls and/or the other loose items. The monkey can hold onto the rigging just like the pirates themselves.Negatives: There’s a big cannon that’s supposed to fire cannon balls, but mine doesn’t work, and the cannon ball I loaded into it – correctly, according to the instructions – is now (permanently?) stuck in the mouth of the cannon. In a $100 set, a non-working cannon is a big disappointment. Also, there should have been three brown clamp pieces (I’m not sure what to call them) in the set: two to fix to the main mast to hold the rigging, and one to fix to the smaller mast. However, I only had two brown pieces, and two extra black clamp pieces. I want the clamps to match the mast; the black stands out. Plus the piece didn’t seem to fit very well like the brown piece did – but maybe I just didn’t push hard enough? Finally, when assembling this, if you make a mistake it is VERY difficult to correct. On the one hand, it’s great that things stay together once assembled, but on the other hand, this also means that if you ever want to disassemble the ship… well, good luck. Read the directions carefully before you snap ANYTHING into place. The directions have no words and some of the instructions are not super clear, so be sure you understand what you’re doing before you commit. I put the hooks on the smallest sail on the wrong ends of the sail, and I had to literally use my teeth to get the hooks off so that I could put them on correctly.Despite these drawbacks – of which the broken cannon is definitely the most egregious – I’m really happy with this and hope to collect more of the Pirates series in the future.P.S. (Tangent ahead.) Even though the instruction booklet features a very cool Black woman pirate (Rohanna Razor-Tide) and a neat octopus guy, this set doesn’t come with either, just the third featured character, Myles Manta-Hunter, who is presumably captain of this ship. I can understand the octopus guy not being included, since he’s the antagonist, but I am disappointed that Rohanna wasn’t included. Worse, she’s not available with any other set currently being sold. She was included on the previous pirate ship (along with Myles), where she is listed as the captain, so I guess he took up freelancing? Or mutinied? Or maybe she died? Lol. Playmobil, please re-release Rohanna! My pirate ship isn’t complete without her!

Pretty cool!
So, my kids enjoyed this set a lot. They’ve got a fair amount of Playmobil toys, which they’ve assembled the weirdest mix of shared Disney, dinosaur, and pirate universes ever. But, as I remember, that’s no different than what I did as a kid anyway, so good for them. As far as the quality of this toy, it’s what you would expect of Playmobil. It’s probably one of the more complex pieces I’ve seen. Not that it’s all that complicated, but there do seem to be more pieces and accessories to lose on this particular playset. It also kind of floats. It doesn’t take much to unbalance it, and then it loses buoyancy and it sinks like a rock. Granted, I don’t think it’s really meant to be used in water in the first place, but you know how kids are. Either way, the kids love playing with it, so that’s a big win in my book.

Really fun but doesn’t float well with any accessories on board
My pirate-loving 5-year old absolutely loves this toy! Despite his building skills with brick toys, this one definitely required significant adult assistance in assembly. Once assembled, there are so many fun accessories (ropes, swords, maps, a monkey, treasure box, gold, etc.) that it allow for a lot of engaging pretend play. We’ve played with it both in and out of the water for many hours! In the water it floats perfectly as long as none of the accessories are on board. Once more than a couple of accessories are added, the balance is thrown off and the boat will slowly topple and sink. This allows for good pretend play if you want to pretend the ship is sinking instead of sailing. Overall, this is a great toy for kids who love pirates!

Fun Pirate Set!
We are super excited about this Playmobil Pirate Ship #71530! There is so much to do and love about this set. From the characters to the accessories, creative and imaginative play is automatic with this set.The set is high-quality and the parts are well-made; just what you would expect from Playmobil. Made in Germany. While the age range is 4-10, I think younger ones will definitely need help assembling this pirate ship. After that, let the fun begin! There are lots of smaller parts, so be mindful of that with your little ones.Overall, this is a really fun pirate set by Playmobil, and it will surely provide hours of entertainment for our little ones.

Great LARGE play set!
What a great toy for kids. Both of my boys have been watching the “pirates” movies over and over and I thought a pirate ship would be something fun for them to reenact scenes from the movie and create some adventure. As soon as I opened it they were VERY excited. The ship is VERY large and has tons of accessories. Pirates a monkey, projectiles, and everything in between. I had to help them place some of the And YES it floats on water! Assembly is pretty easy, however I did put the sails together as they were a little tricky to get right. Bottom line both boys love it, they use their imaginations, and it takes away from screen time. Well made quality toy from a brand that has been around forever! Highly recommend!

Lots to do with this fun pirate playset
Hard to go wrong with Playmobil, and this pirate themed set doesn’t disappoint. The usual assembly required with a Playmobil set is literally a snap, and once that work is done, the play can begin! Includes 3 pirate characters (including a girl pirate!) and a monkey figure. They have lots to do on the ship…climbing the sails, fishing for the giant manta ray figure and firing the huge cannon. As always, the figures and accessories work with other Playmobil figures and sets, and this is a great addition to our family’s Playmobil collection. Highly recommended.

Nice gift
This pirate ship made a great gift for my 4 year old grandson. We haven’t put it together yet but all the peices are there along with instructions. All Playmobile toys are durable and this pirate ship is no exception.
